MB Therapeutics personalizes Drug Production with Individual Dosages

In the context of personalized medicine, novel manufacturing processes are coming to the fore, especially when it comes to producing drugs. MB Therapeutics, a company specializing in the creation of customized drugs, is addressing this challenge and taking the production of pharmaceutical products to a new, patient-centric level.

One of the company’s particular focuses is on the pediatric sector, where there are still significant deficiencies in terms of custom-fit drug forms and dosages.

“We are excited to launch MB Therapeutics and provide innovative solutions to meet the needs of patients in personalized medicine, especially those of children,” said Dr. Stéphane Roulon, co-founder of the company.

The pharmaceutical industry often reaches its limits here. Currently, for example, 38% of children receive at least one medication that is individually prepared by pharmacists to meet their specific needs.

However, “We do not have a process for automatically producing customized solid oral forms,” said Dr. Ian Soulairol, co-founder of the company and hospital pharmacist.

The 3D printing technology used by MB Therapeutics offers innovative solutions here. It enables pharmacists to produce customized oral forms directly on site, tailored to individual needs. This technology also helps to bridge bottlenecks in supply and opens up the possibility for pharmacies to automatically produce medicines with industrial quality. An additional aspect that should not be neglected is the reduction of medication waste, which reaches 15,000 tons annually in France.

The use of 3D printing in pharmaceutical production is thus not only a solution for the safe and precise production of personalized medicines, but at the same time positively influences the management of resources and waste in the healthcare sector. By collaborating with healthcare professionals and institutions, such as Nîmes University Hospital, MB Therapeutics strives to develop customized drug manufacturing solutions for children with medical conditions and believes that 3D printing technology can have a significant impact on the quality of life of children and their families.
