Prusa introduces MK3.5 upgrade for faster 3D printing

Czech company Prusa Research has launched an upgrade kit for its MK3S+ 3D printer. Called MK3.5, the update promises up to twice the printing speed and ease of use thanks to a color display.

According to company founder Josef Průša, the upgrade primarily benefits from the new 32-bit control electronics xBuddy. It enables the use of modern driver features such as Input Shaper and Pressure Advance. Tests have shown that up to 50% of the printing time can be saved for larger print objects.

Other new features of the MK3.5 include the switch to a 4.3-inch touchscreen with USB interface and G-code preview as well as a network connection including compatibility with the Prusa Connect print cloud. The latter allows convenient transmission of print jobs via the internet.

According to Prusa, the upgrade can be installed in around 2 hours. A kit with instructions and spare parts is available now for 279 euros. Existing MK3S+ printers can thus be brought up to the current state of the art with reasonable effort.
