Airbus and Sigma Labs start collaboration to qualify metal 3D printing for aerospace

The US-based additive manufacturing software developer Sigma Labs announced a collaboration with the aerospace company Airbus.

Within this collaboration, Airbus plans to use Sigma Labs’ Rapid Test and Evaluation Program of the new PrintRite3D quality assurance software in version 5.0. PrintRite3D, a combination of hardware and software modules allows quality assurance and in-process monitoring and collects process data in real-time for a user based analysis. Airbus will also gain access to the PrintRite3D In-Process Quality Assurance (IPQA) system which provides hardware, software, training, engineering, and metallurgical consulting and support.

The aim is to evaluate metal additive manufacturing for the serial production of aerospace applications with the long-term goal to qualify metal additive manufacturing system for serial production in aerospace for Airbus.
