Open source slicing software OrcaSlicer 2.0 released

The new version of the popular slicing software OrcaSlicer has been released in its final version 2.0. As was already apparent from the beta version, the new version has a range of new and interesting features.

One highlight is the “Scarf Joint Seam” function. This is an innovative approach to making seam marks almost invisible during FDM printing. Many other detailed improvements, bug fixes and enhancements round off the extensive update. These include optimized print time estimation, import optimizations for STEP files and adjustments to existing functions such as print tower creation or contour smoothing. The 3D Honeycomb Infill function has also been revised and bugs have been fixed. Additional profiles for printers have also been added.

OrcaSlicer is available as a free download for Windows, Mac and Linux on GitHub.

OrcaSlicer is a fork of Bambu Studio. Bambu Studio is a fork of PrusaSlicer by Prusa Research, which originates from Slic3r by Alessandro Ranellucci and the RepRap community. Orca Slicer contains many functions of SuperSlicer. The project is supported by the community. You can also support the developer financially at ko-fi.com. In addition to the community, 3D printer manufacturers Qidi Tech and Peopoly are also supporting the project.
