SKZ Würzburg initiates educational alliance for additive manufacturing

The importance of additive manufacturing in various industrial sectors is continuously increasing. In view of this growing demand, the SKZ Plastics Center and its partners have launched the Additive Manufacturing Education Alliance. The education alliance is planning a variety of training and further education courses with the aim of sustainably qualifying skilled workers.

Some of the renowned participants in the alliance are AMbitious, AM solutions, Apium | Additive Technologies GmbH, Daimler Truck AG, DREIGEIST Additive Intelligence oHG, EOS, Headmade Materials GmbH, KraussMaffei and Siemens Energy. The starting signal for this cooperative work was given at Formnext, the leading international trade fair for additive manufacturing in November 2023. This event provided the ideal setting for the presentation of the education alliance and the exchange with the professional world.

A central aim of the alliance is to form a strong, cooperative community through mutual exchange and the sharing of best practices. The aim is not only to contribute to the qualification of skilled workers, but also to strengthen innovation in this technologically advanced field.

“The Additive Manufacturing Education Alliance is a pioneering project that aims to qualify the skilled workers of tomorrow while strengthening the importance and potential of additive manufacturing in the industry. By pooling our strengths and resources, we can develop comprehensive educational offerings that meet the current and future needs of our industry,” says Irena Heuzeroth, Senior Trainer Education Injection Molding/Additive Manufacturing at SKZ.

The initiative will not only provide existing training courses, but also develop new courses led by experienced trainers and covering a wide range of topics. From basic introductions to specialized technical topics, the training courses will provide guidance along the entire value chain of additive manufacturing. In addition, close cooperation between the partners will ensure that the training courses are always relevant, practical and tailored to the needs of the industry.
