Chemical company Weicon has introduced a new range of sealers and impregnators. The specialty chemicals are designed to seal components in industrial manufacturing and protect them from corrosion.
Sealers and impregnating agents are used, among other things, to close the pores of metal, plastic or concrete surfaces. This can prevent dirt or moisture from penetrating and damaging components.
According to Weicon, the new products are based on the know-how of Jeln, which has been part of Weicon since 2022. Jeln specializes in the development of such specialty chemicals. Weicon’s sealers and impregnators are said to offer high adhesion and penetrate deep into the pores of surfaces. Depending on the product, they are available in water- or solvent-based form. The water-based variants are particularly suitable for plastics.
The experts see potential areas of application in engine construction, the post-treatment of 3D printed components and the sealing of coatings. The products differ in their temperature resistance and chemical resistance.
