YouTuber presents self-built filament changer for 3D printers

The trend towards multi-material and multi-color printing in the 3D sector continues to gather pace. Maker Armored_Turtle is responding to this demand and is currently developing a fully automated filament changer for up to eight different materials.

The prototype, dubbed “8-Track”, is based on a modular concept. Each of the eight filament spools is housed in a separate drying box, which has its own filament feed. The boxes are connected to the central changer unit via spring plugs and thus receive power and data connection. Although Armored_Turtle is currently testing the system on a Voron 3D printer, he emphasizes the good adaptability to other printer models.
