3D Printing Marketplace Pinshape Teams Up with 3DPrinterOS

The 3D printing community marketplace Pinshape and 3DPrinterOS, an operating system for 3D printing, have formed a strategic partnership to be announced and demonstrated at Collision, America’s counterpart to Europe’s largest tech conference, on May 5-6, 2015 at the World Market Center Pavilions, Las Vegas.

Pinshape is one of the top 60 startups among 600 applicants selected to compete in Collision’s PITCH competition, and the only 3D printing marketplace representing in the two-day event.

Pinshape’s partnership with 3DPrinterOS makes it possible for users to stream designs from the Pinshape marketplace direct to print for the majority of today’s desktop 3D printers, bringing unprecedented compatibility to the 3D printing community and simplifying the click-to-print experience for consumers. The 3DPrinterOS API also relieves intellectual property risks for designers, brands, and companies in unparalleled ways by providing a seamless browser-to-printer experience without the need to access the design source file.

3DPrinterOS was able to provide the missing link to streamline the printing experience for our users”, said Lucas Matheson, Pinshape CEO and Co-Founder. “This integration is an important and much needed step in expanding the value of printable models on our platform. Now, companies and brands can market 3D models securely, at the same time, we can deliver a simple print experience straight from the cloud to the 3D printer.”

“This partnership is a great step forward as designers are now able to finally unleash their incredible work to the world in a secure and compatible way across multiple platforms”, said John Dogru, 3DPrinterOS CEO. “Our goal is to radically increase adoption of 3D Printing and this means a future where 3D Printing simply means clicking print for any type of printer.

The incorporation of this new streaming software stems from Pinshape’s status as a hardware-independent marketplace in an industry traditionally dominated by hardware-affiliated companies.

Collision showcases some of the best innovative companies and ideas. We’re glad to be a part of that, and to be able to feature the latest in consumer 3D printing. As a hardware & software agnostic marketplace, working with 3DPrinterOS allows us to not only improve the user experience on our site, but effectively manage intellectual property concerns from brands & companies who are ready to enter this market” said Matheson.

Matheson believes that the implementation of this kind of software in a marketplace setting will open the door for even more companies and brands to enter the industry. “There are a lot of designers and brands looking for a solution that allows them to monetize their designs across multiple printer types without sharing the source files. We’re making this really simple.”
