Materialise teamed up with the full-cloud 3D CAD system Onshape to integrate 3D printing functionality into their platform. The Materialise 3DPrintCloud tools to analyse and repair a design for 3D printing will be brought to Onshape users through the new 3DPrintCloud Print Preparation app now available on the Onshape App Store, currently in private beta.
The collaboration helps to streamline 3D printing workflows by providing the Onshape community with software technology that facilitates the process of turning their 3D designs into physical parts. The companies have developed an integration between Onshape and Materialise 3DPrintCloud capable of analysing and fixing 3D models to ensure printability. Now Onshape can rely on Materialise’s cloud solutions to support their users in the 3D printing process.
“At Onshape we are reinventing CAD to work the way today’s engineers, designers and manufacturers do, allowing everyone on a design team to work together using their web browser, phone, or tablet.” said Joe Dunne, Partner Program Manager at Onshape. “We are bringing users the future of CAD and we see 3D Printing as playing a role in that future. Through our combined efforts, Onshape and Materialise aim to make 3D printing technology more accessible to our user community and with its deep experience in providing solutions and services to the additive manufacturing sector, Materialise has substantially augmented our efforts to assist our users in getting their ideas from design stage to 3D printed object.”
Thomas Moens, 3DPrintCloud Business Line Manager at Materialise said: “Through our Materialise cloud technology which streamlines 3D printing workflows with the 3DPrintCloud API, we are able to bring software solutions that serve as the 3D printing backbone for various industries to a broader audience, and Onshape is perfectly suited to deliver this to its community. By collaborating with Onshape, product designers and engineers will be able to 3D print their parts with greater ease as they let the 3DPrintCloud Print Preparation app analyze and help prepare their designs for printing.”
The Onshape App Store is currently in private beta. If you are interested in participating in the beta testing, you can request an invitation.
