Shannon VanDeren takes over presidency of AMUG

Shannon VanDeren, an experienced consultant in the additive manufacturing industry, has been named the new president of the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG). She succeeds Mark Abshire, who stepped down after several years of involvement.

VanDeren began her career in additive manufacturing at Materialise in 2010 and now works as a consultant for her own company, Layered Manufacturing and Consulting. She joined AMUG in 2014 and has served as AMUG’s vice president since 2022.

“We, as a collective board, are grateful to Mark for his many years of service and countless contributions to AMUG,” VanDeren said in an official statement. “The AMUG Board of Directors has voted, and I am pleased to announce that I will assume the role of president.”

In addition to VanDeren’s appointment, AMUG has also hired its first employee, Jordan Weston, as operations manager. She will coordinate day-to-day operations and act as a liaison between the board and select contractors. Weston’s hiring also marks the filling of the Director of Education and Conference position he previously held. Ed Graham, who has served as Track Leader and Chair of the Track Leader Committee for many years, has been appointed to the position.

Claire Belson Barnes has been appointed Director of Membership. Her years of dedication to AMUG began as a recipient of the Guy E. Bourdeau Scholarship and continued through her participation on the Scholarship and Registration Committees.
