6K Additive acquires Global Metal Powders: focus on sustainable metal powder production

6K Additives, a division of 6K Inc, has acquired Global Metal Powders (GMP). This strategic decision strengthens its position in the production of sustainable titanium and refractory metal powders. GMP brings to the table a unique technology for processing titanium and other refractory metals. In addition, 6K Additive will expand its portfolio by producing high-purity chromium powder.

Frank Roberts, president of 6K Additive, sees the acquisition as a milestone. “The market for sustainably produced powder is growing,” he says. “GMP’s technology and expertise will enable us to better meet our customers’ needs.”

At the same time, Henry Brougham, GMP’s founder, is enthusiastic about the joint opportunities. He emphasizes, “Our combined expertise will revolutionize powder manufacturing.”

One of the highlights of 6K Additive is the UniMelt system. It is the world’s only microwave-powered production system. A recent study highlighted the energy and CO2 savings of this system.
