ARBURGadditive provides an insight into its portfolio for this year’s rapid+tct trade fair

At this year’s rapid+tct trade fair in Los Angeles, which will take place from June 25 to 27, 2024, ARBURGadditive will be impressively demonstrating its broad portfolio of high-quality 3D printing technologies. Among other things, the Freeformer 750-3X in a high-temperature version, which processes Ultem 9085 plastic granulate, a material frequently used in the aerospace industry, will be presented at stand no. 2001.

“The rapid+tct is one of the important trade fairs in the USA, bringing together decision-makers from industry and technology in one place,” emphasises Dr Victor Roman, Managing Director of ARBURGadditive. “We will be focusing on the additive production of genuine functional components that are in no way inferior to injection moulding, the processing of certified virgin plastics to create complex and individualised components in small quantities and, of course, our Freeformer 750-3X, which can reliably and reproducibly perform such demanding tasks.”

Thanks to its ability to process high-temperature plastics, the Freeformer 750-3X enables the production of sophisticated components such as ventilation ducts for the aerospace industry. The printing process takes place at temperatures of up to 450 degrees Celsius, which enables the processing of original plastic pellets. With a component carrier of 750 square centimeters, larger parts or small batches can be produced efficiently.

Another highlight is the Gestica control system. Precise calculations based on the slicing data allow the material to be precisely dosed for each layer, which leads to a significant reduction in construction time and costs. One example of this is individualized orthopaedic insoles, where the construction time was reduced by 72 percent thanks to adapted dispensing strategies and layer thicknesses.

The customer portal app “ProcessLog” offers complete documentation of the production parameters for each individual component, an essential prerequisite for use in safety-relevant areas such as medical technology or aviation. The app enables individual customization and presents process and build order data clearly and graphically.

In addition to innovative machines, ARBURGadditive also offers a comprehensive range of services in the USA. At the Arburg Prototyping Center in Rocky Hill, CT, customers can have machine installations, training courses and material tests carried out. The AM team also provides active support in troubleshooting and optimizing machine operation.
