AML3D receives European Patent for its 3D Printing Process

3D printing specialist AML3D announced that it has received a European patent for its Wire Additive Manufacturing (WAM) process. The European Patent Office patent is aligned with the Australian patent granted in June 2021 and covers AML3D’s process and apparatus for manufacturing 3D metal parts.

This European process patent provides additional protection for AML3D’s intellectual property and confirms the company’s leadership in advanced 3D metal printing technology. AML3D, as the only company with a European process patent in additive manufacturing, is thus positioned as the technology leader in wire additive manufacturing in Europe.

Although AML3D is currently ramping up sales of its ARCEMY systems to industrial manufacturers in the U.S. defense, marine and aerospace industries, the company plans to leverage its technology leadership in Europe and its scaling approach in the U.S. to increase sales to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) supporting the European defense, marine and aerospace industries. AML3D’s technological edge enables customers to produce customized components in less time and at lower cost.

AML3D Interim CEO Sean Ebert said: “This is a significant milestone for our company and our technology journey. The granting of this patent is further validation of our proprietary technology and also secures our position as a global provider of a major industrial metal 3D Printing process. The market demand for advanced wire feedstock additive manufacturing, that can address supply chain risk, deliver time and cost savings and better ESG outcomes continues to accelerate. This additional international process patent protection will further strengthen our position in a significant and growing addressable market.”
