The Chinese company Xi’an Particle Cloud Advanced Materials Technology Co. Ltd. is currently looking for investors for its PCPrinter BCTM 3D printer.
During a presentation the company did not only reveal their Filament Free Printing (FFP) technology to investors, manufacturers and health care specialists, but also informed about their human clinical trails scheduled for late May and June.
The technology developed allows for 3D printing of complex bone structures that are completely biodegradable. When tested and implanted into a rabbit back in March, new cells began growing on the surface of the artificial bone.
If tests on humans turn out to be successful, this new method could be significant to replace bones in people suffering from bone loss due to disease or an accident.
Researchers at Xi’an Particle Cloud are not the only ones developing 3D printable bone replacements. Australian scientists as well as Japanese researchers have already come up with similar methods.
