Emirati energy company DEWA has filed a new patent for 3D printing. It involves an innovative plate designed to simplify the process of accepting printed objects.
DEWA said the invention supports its efforts to develop 3D printing in the energy sector. The special plate is said to facilitate the removal of printed objects during the printing process. According to DEWA, this enables continuous 3D printing operation. DEWA is already using 3D printers to produce prototypes and spare parts. The long-term goal is to comprehensively digitize its inventory management.
DEWA sees great potential in additive manufacturing processes to increase its own productivity and efficiency. In Dubai, DEWA is to take a pioneering role in the introduction of 3D printing.
The new plate is part of this strategy. DEWA regularly applies for patents to drive research in 3D printing. In the long term, additive manufacturing is to play an important role in the Emirati energy industry.
