Forward AM to showcase new Innovations and Sustainability Initiative at Formnext 2023

Forward AM, BASF‘s 3D printing solutions brand, has unveiled a range of products with enhanced functionalities and optimal performance that open up new application possibilities. These innovations will be showcased at the annual Formnext trade show in Frankfurt, along with their ongoing commitment to sustainability in the industry.

Three notable products stand out from Forward AM’s latest collection:

  • Ultrasint PA11 rCF: A new material reinforced with recycled carbon fibers offers a sustainable alternative without sacrificing performance.
  • Ultrasint TPU 90A LT: A flexible material ideal for consumer products such as footwear that offers excellent UV and hydrolysis resistance.
  • Ultracur3D 9400 B FR: A flame retardant material that can be used for production components that require a UL 94 V-0 rating.

Also introduced was Ultrafuse PLA Tough, which prints seven times faster and stronger than standard PLA, ideal for orthopedics and prototypes.

Another focus of Forward AM is their commitment to sustainability through the #ProjectZero program. This comprehensive project aims to reduce the company’s environmental footprint while studying the impact of the 3DP industry as a whole. Currently, Forward AM has unveiled four new LCA studies for its filament materials and plans to release four more by the end of 2023.

A recent CO2 reduction study showed that changes in packaging, coils, and energy resulted in an impressive 69% carbon reduction.

“Additive Manufacturing is the strategic element of any manufacturing business that wants to future-proof its activities. In the race against time, adoption of existing AM applications and collaboration to create new ones is a matter of survival. And at every step of the way, we have to consider our environmental footprint. I am proud that the products and sustainability measures that we’re launching at Formnext bring new innovation dimensions to an industry that is under pressure to transform,” said CEO and Managing Director Martin Back in advance of the event.

At Formnext 2023, Forward AM will be exhibiting in Hall 12.1, Stand D61, and invites all interested parties to explore their latest products and initiatives.
