Kisi – A 3D Printed Key Card Door Opener That You Can Control Via Your Smartphone

A Brooklyn-based start up named Kisi is producing a smart lock which enables your keycard system to connect to the cloud.

3D printing helped the company to better design the case for the electronics. As they are producing all their products directly in Brooklyn, the team around Bernhard Mehl decided to leave the 3D printed parts in the final products.

Bernhard Mehl, Co-Founder and Product Designer at Kisi:

“Sometimes they [the customers] the surface and ask: Why is that not polished and clean? We tell them it´s 3D printed. It comes right of the printer. The customers say: A 3D printed thing. I want that on my wall!
