A particularly unusual 3D-printed film camera is the ND 6×17 from Noble Designs. It enables extremely wide panorama shots in 17:6 format on 120 film.
Instead of a viewfinder, a smartphone mount with app serves as a viewfinder replacement. This displays the very large image field of around 17 cm in width, which can be covered with suitable wide-angle lenses. Only 3 shots are possible per film.
The camera is manufactured using Multi Jet Fusion technology, an industrial 3D printing process from HP that enables fine surfaces. The parts are thus ready for use and do not need to be reworked.
According to the manufacturer, the ND 6×17 is suitable for landscape and architectural photography. However, with a price of around 1100 euros, the camera is no bargain. Interested parties must also have sufficiently large lenses to cover the image field.
