Proclaim gets funding to launch its 3D-printed Custom-Jet Oral Health System

The importance of good oral hygiene is well known, but despite its obvious impact on our mouths and overall health, there has been little innovation when it comes to dental care. Proclaim wants to change that, and to do so, it has raised $15 million in a Series B funding round to take its Custom-Jet Oral Health System global.

Proclaim’s Custom-Jet Oral Health System looks a bit like a scuba diver’s mouthpiece, but is connected to a “hydrostation” that pumps 60 jets of water into the user’s mouth – in just seven seconds. Each mouthpiece is individually 3D-printed to the user’s mouth to direct the plaque- and bacteria-dissolving liquid exactly where it’s needed.

Proclaim is not intended to replace tooth brushing, but to complement it. The company claims that using its Jet system along with regular toothbrushing is clinically proven to be 10 times more effective at reducing bleeding gums, nearly 13 times more effective at reducing gingivitis and nearly eight times more effective at reducing plaque buildup, compared to daily brushing and flossing.

While good oral health is important in its own right, Calves believes Proclaim can also play a role in improving people’s overall health, “We can help people live healthier longer by addressing an everyday problem that has much larger, painful and costly underlying public health issues, including heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and dementia, to name a few. We offer an incredibly effective, easy-to-use and enjoyable solution to reduce harmful bacteria throughout the body, starting with gum disease.”

Proclaim intends to use the funding round to provide the necessary resources for the initial commercialization of the product.
