With MakerLab Experiments, Bambu Lab has introduced a series of experimental prototype tools for creative 3D modeling. The aim is to give users without in-depth CAD knowledge in particular the opportunity to create their own individual 3D models.
One of these tools is the AI Scanner. It can be used to capture objects or people in an all-round view using a video recording and convert them into digital 3D twins for 3D printing. Users only need to film the object with a normal smartphone.
Depending on the subject, users can choose between different generation modes. If sources of interference make it difficult to recognize the subject correctly, manual selection is also possible. Generating the 3D scan data usually takes around 30 minutes, but can take a little longer if the workload is high.
Bambu Lab emphasizes the experimental nature of MakerLab. The tools are not yet perfect and may not be suitable for all requirements. However, users are invited to try them out and provide feedback. This is then incorporated into the further development and prioritization of the tools. The tools can be used free of charge.
