Solukon to unveil Key Innovations for the SFM-AT350 at Formnext 2023

Since its launch in November 2021, the SFM-AT350 depowdering system for medium-sized components has become a real top seller. With key innovations, Solukon is making the best-selling mid-range depowdering system even more intelligent, transparent, convenient and cleaning even more efficient. All innovations can be seen at Formnext 2023.

One of the major upgrades is the integration of the SPR-Pathfinder software, which enables the automated calculation of cleaning sequences. This uses CAD data to calculate the ideal sequence of movements within the system to remove excess powder from complex, internal structures, based on fluid mechanics simulation.

“The requirements for depowdering increase as part complexity, material complexity and diversity increase. Growing production quantities are also an influential factor. At the same time, our customers want us to provide systems that are very easy to operate. After experiencing a breakthrough with the launch of our smart SPR-Pathfinder® software, which calculates optimal part motion, we have achieved a further milestone upon launching the SFM-AT350-E: For any depowdering challenge, we can now offer the optimal frequency excitation,” said Andreas Hartmann in summary of the importance of the new machine variant.

Another update is presented in the form of the SFM-AT350-E, which enables the depowdering of filigree structures and materials that are difficult to depowder, such as copper, by implementing a piezoelectric excitation. The frequencies of this electronic excitation are far above the damaging natural frequencies of the component, thus preventing damage and guaranteeing gentle yet efficient cleaning.

Not only the depowdering itself, but also the user experience is optimized by new tracking capabilities in the enhanced Digital Factory Tool (DFT). While the precise details and functionality of the enhanced DFT are yet to be explained in an upcoming announcement, this update represents a significant step towards more transparent and customizable user interactions.

With the launch of the SFM-AT350-E including SPR pathfinder and the extended DFT at Formnext 2023, Solukon strengthens its commitment to continuous innovation and optimization in the field of 3D printing post-processing technology. Here, the focus is not only on expanding technological capabilities, but also on improving user experience and increasing efficiency in the production process. The company demonstrates that a careful combination of software- and hardware-related upgrades is instrumental in sustainably addressing the challenges of increasing part and material complexity in 3D printing.

The upgrades are carefully designed to respond to the increasing complexity of parts and the diverse requirements of users in various industries. Solukon’s drive to anticipate the increasing demands of the industry through technological advancements continues to position the company as a major player in the depowdering technologies segment.
