Stratasys to demonstrate new direct-to-garment solution at Texprocess trade fair

Stratasys Ltd. recently launched its new Direct-to-Garment (D2G) solution for the J850 TechStyle printer. This marks a significant step in personalized fashion and sustainability. The first application of this technology will be presented in the Urban Tattoo Denim collection, which will be unveiled at the Texprocess trade fair in Frankfurt on April 23.

The D2G solution enables direct full-color 3D printing on fully assembled garments made from different types of fabric, including denim, cotton, polyester and linen. This allows fashion brands to offer personalized and bespoke designs for customers by customizing 3D prints according to personal preferences, sizes and styles.

“Many brands are limited in how much they can mass produce denim clothing, while maintaining a level of personalization that has meaning to the wearer,” said Zehavit Reisin, Senior Vice President Commercial Solutions, Stratasys. “We are giving brands the opportunity to do something remarkable, to bring more character to their clothing line, while pushing a more sustainable business practice that appeals to multiple audiences across the consumer spectrum.”

The D2G solution is available in two sizes and facilitates the personalization of garments from jeans to jackets. It enables designers and manufacturers to adopt more sustainable practices by reducing material waste. The frictionless workflow offers easy calibration and is compatible with different garment sizes, simplifying the production process and encouraging the creation of unique, personalized clothing.

The Urban Tattoo collection, developed in collaboration with renowned designers such as Karim Rashid and Travis Fitch, demonstrates the possibilities and simplicity of direct-to-garment printing. It transforms ordinary garments into extraordinary, wearable works of art, giving them a personal identity and meaning.

“With Urban Tattoos, we’re not just decorating a garment, we’re giving it more life and spirit,” said Naomi Kaempfer, Stratasys Creative Director. “By adding layers of stories and symbolism that resonate with the individuality of the wearer, these tattoos help consumers promote their identity, and celebrate their individuality. It is a testament to the transformative power of additive manufacturing technology in fashion.”
