Xuberance manufactures furniture with 3D printing technology from BigRep

Xuberance is a product design company based in Beijing, China, that uses 3D printing technology to create exceptional pieces of furniture and accessories. Their approach translates intricate digital designs into 3D printed objects that are often impossible to realize using traditional manufacturing methods. By utilizing BigRep‘s large-format 3D printers, Xuberance is implementing a new design concept that combines sustainability and unparalleled design freedom.

“3D printing is the backbone of our entire design and production process,” says Leira Wang, Managing Director of Xuberance. “Our designers can fully translate their digital designs into physical products with 3D printers like BigRep’s. This process offers unparalleled design freedom while pushing the boundaries of what is technically possible.”

The range extends from furniture to fashion accessories, all of which impress with their attention to detail and organic shapes. These products are not only special in terms of their aesthetic appeal: less material is wasted in their manufacture and production takes less time than with other manufacturing methods.

One example of the innovative use of 3D printing technology is the award-winning 3D-printed cloud lamp, which was recognized at Milan Design Week 2015. The lamp symbolizes the fusion of technology and art made possible by additive manufacturing processes.

BigRep’s large format printers enable Xuberance to print larger and complex objects such as chairs and tables in one piece, significantly reducing production time and lowering costs.

“Large format printing has fundamentally changed our ability to create distinctive designs,” continues Wang. “BigRep’s large format printers play a crucial role in this, opening up new possibilities by reducing time and costs.”

Beyond technical feasibility, Xuberance is also focusing on sustainability. By using biodegradable materials and reducing production waste, the company is contributing to a more environmentally friendly production method.

“Thanks to the super-precise print quality, we can faithfully transfer our designers’ compositions into the finished Xuberance products without losing the subtleties of the original digital design,” says Wang.

Xuberance exemplifies the potential that additive manufacturing processes offer in product design and manufacturing, proving that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.

“There is an old Chinese proverb,” Wang concludes, “When brothers are united in purpose, their strength can cut through metal. We believe in the future of large format printing and will work with BigRep to achieve this greater development.”
