USA supply Ukraine mobile 3D printer for spare parts on the front line

The US has supplied the Ukrainian army with mobile industrial 3D printers to produce spare parts for military equipment directly on the front lines. This was announced by U.S. Undersecretary of Defense William LaPlante on September 15, according to The Kyiv Independent.

According to LaPlante, the 3D printers, which are about the size of a truck, were already procured last month. Last week, he said, training for Ukrainian soldiers to operate them was completed. LaPlante called the use of the 3D printers on the front lines a “gamechanger.”

Even at the start of the war, Ukrainian units had used 3D printers themselves to produce spare parts, LaPlante said. Meanwhile, Ukraine has been provided with all the necessary technical data from the U.S. and other allies to carry out 3D printing, he said.

Back in August, we reported that Ukrainian forces were using 3D-printed explosive devices to defend themselves against the war of aggression.
