A YouTuber by the name of Modelkitsdeluxe has converted an electric toothbrush into a small grinder in a video. The unusual idea has resulted in a practical tool that is also suitable for other applications.
As can be seen in the video, all that was done was to modify a suitable toothbrush head so that it can accommodate small grinding wheels. To do this, the maker designed a new head on TinkerCAD and printed it with a 3D printer. Using an adhesive, he attached sandpaper to his design. However, polishing cotton can also be mounted.
According to the YouTuber, the converted device is ideal for sanding small model parts. But it could also be useful in 3D printing, for example for smoothing surfaces. Compared to conventional grinding tools, however, the improvised solution is less precise.
Nevertheless, the project impressively demonstrates how everyday objects can be repurposed with simple means and a little creativity. An old toothbrush can be turned into a useful tool in no time at all.
