3D model platform Thingiverse got big update

Thingiverse is best known and most popular 3D model platform for 3D printing templates. The platform became popular with the rise of Makerbot, but hasn’t seen any major updates in years. That has now changed in recent weeks.

Last year, it was announced that two desktop 3D printer specialists, Makerbot and Ultimaker, were merging. This merger has also brought together the portfolio of the two companies. The 3D model platform, which was known as Makerbot Thingiverse, has now also received new branding as well as a technical update.

Thus, since the end of June, the platform is officially called “UltiMaker Thingiverse” and the website also features the new UltiMaker logo. Otherwise, the look of the website has been modernized. Besides these superficial updates, there were also technical improvements. For example, the login system has been improved. According to Thingiverse, the login should now work better. Likewise, the display of the Analytics page has been improved.

According to the changelog, the Thingiverse team has also fixed many annoying bugs. For example, there should no longer be problems with the Customizer, the 3D view of the models has been improved and the upload of large STL files works better.

In addition, the performance of the website has been improved. The website loads faster and it is possible to search faster. All changes can be read here.
