3D Systems reaffirms partnership with Align Technology

3D printer manufacturer 3D Systems has confirmed the continuation of its long-standing partnership with Align Technology. Align had previously announced the acquisition of Austrian company Cubicure, which specializes in 3D printing solutions.

According to 3D Systems, this was followed by numerous inquiries from shareholders regarding collaboration with Align. 3D Systems has been providing Align with 3D printers, materials and services for the efficient indirect manufacturing of transparent braces for 25 years.

Align operates a high number of 3D Systems 3D printers and produces more than one million parts daily, he said. It will continue to rely on 3D Systems as a partner, the manufacturer said. The Cubicure acquisition has no impact on that partnership, it said.

According to Emory Wright, Align’s chief manufacturing officer, 3D Systems is a critical partner. Over 25 years, they have worked together to develop a prototyping technology into a mass production process and significantly increase accuracy and productivity, he said.

Going forward, they will continue to work together to continuously improve Align’s indirect 3D printing manufacturing, Wright said. The Cubicure acquisition does not affect this area, he said.
