Additive Industries’ MetalFAB1 3D Printer to Produce Components for Automotive Industry

After closing their Beta program back in March this year, Dutch manufacturer Additive Industries announced at RAPID 2016 that is has added yet another partner.

GKN Powder Metallurgy, manufacturer of automotive components, has also joined their beta program and will use the MetalFAB1 system for automotive serial production. Having recently delivered the first metal 3D printing system to Airbus, Additive Industries will now build another machine for GNK.

GNK intends to improve the industrialisation of its serial metal additive manufacturing process, using the MetalFab1 system.

Daan Kersten, Additive Industries Co-founder and CEO, said: “For Additive Industries the input from an automotive leader like GKN is a beautiful addition to the other Beta customers from the aerospace and high tech equipment markets. Their unconditional focus on predictability and total cost is an important driver for further integration and optimisation”.

Other beta partners include Dutch Kaak Group and United Grinding Group.
