Kelvin6k builds first building with 3D printer made in India

Kelvin6k, an Indian startup, has built India’s first locally printed building using an Indian-made 3D printer. The company has attracted attention for its robotic construction technologies and has now built a nearly square meter office in just ten days.

Kelvin6k’s 3D printing robots were developed in-house in just four months. The robots are custom-made and also affordable, according to the manufacturer. This is an important fact, especially for the Indian market. However, the robustness, simplicity and cost-effectiveness of the machines have also attracted international interest and made the company competitive in the global market.

Kelvin6k is currently one of the few Indian companies capable of manufacturing large-format concrete 3D printers for on-site use. With initial funding of $125,000 from Ondeck, the company’s printers cost a fraction of their international competitors.

Over the next 2-3 years, Kelvin6k aims to lead the global construction 3D printing market by providing affordable solutions worldwide. The company plans to automate processes such as laying foundations, reinforcing concrete, plastering and painting.
