Mechnano and Bomar present E35B+ Masterbatch for 3D Printing Industry

Mechnano and Bomar have introduced the new E35B+ masterbatch. This product, developed for formulators in the 3D printing industry, utilizes Mechnano’s exclusive D’Func technology. This innovation combines discrete, dispersed and functionalized carbon nanotubes (CNTs) to enable resin developments with improved mechanical properties and nano-uniform electrical performance.

The E35B+ formulation is characterized by a 2.5 times higher CNT concentration compared to Mechnano’s original E35A ESD masterbatch. It is particularly suitable for the development of resins for SLA, DLP or jetable 3D printing processes that require stiffness and high tensile strength. With a customizable resistivity ranging from 10^6 to 10^10 ohms, E35B+ ensures the absence of carbon traces and can be easily integrated into formulas without the need for high shear mixing.

“Mechnano’s Product Development team is committed to improving our technologies and AM solutions,” says Mechnano Director of Applications & Technology Dr. Olga “Dr.O” Ivanova. “This dedication has led to the development of a new masterbatch that delivers excellent results while requiring a smaller quantity in the final resin formula, making it more cost-effective.”

“This new, more highly concentrated dispersion by Mechnano should improve the versatility of this product and further enable ESD resins for a wide range of applications,” says David Robitaille, Global Brand Director for Bomar. “Mechnano has continued to enhance the product’s design and manufacturing process to improve performance, and we’re excited to see what this new dispersion can enable.”

With E35B+, Mechnano relies on its unique D’Func process, which addresses the problem of clumped and entangled CNTs in materials to improve their mechanical and electrical performance. By eliminating these clumps and functionalizing the CNTs, Mechnano ensures that their masterbatches provide stable CNT dispersions. This is crucial as dispersions of clumped CNTs are known to negatively affect the mechanical properties of materials, resulting in inferior part properties. Mechnano’s ever-growing product portfolio is a testament to their commitment to the industry and E35B+ is available directly from Mechnano or through their partner Bomar.
