Roboze to Add Sabic’s New Polycarbonate

A new polycarbonate copolymer filament now accessible thanks to machines designed for engineering polymers: Global sneak preview at Rapid + TCT

LEXAN™ EXL AMHI240F – a new polycarbonate filament for FFF introduced by SABIC at Formnext17 fair in Frankfurt last November. A unique polycarbonate copolymer characterized by high impact resistance and ductility at low temperatures (up to -30 ° C) developed for demanding applications in industries like aerospace, consumer and automotive.

Unlike standard polycarbonates, this material can deliver up to four times better notched Izod impact at room temperature, and up to three times higher at -30°C, depending on printing orientation. The LEXAN EXL filament has a heat deflection temperature of 140°C, which is higher than that of general-purpose ABS filaments, addressing the need for applications requiring high temperature resistance.

Its compliance with UL94 V-0 flammability standard at 3.0 mm in flat (XY) and on-edge (XZ) orientations makes it a candidate for a broad range of applications requiring better flame performance than standard polycarbonates. Technical data can be found on SABIC.COM

We are pleased to have Roboze offer LEXAN EXL AMHI240F filament on their printer platform.  Our vision of helping the additive manufacturing industry to expand the use of engineering materials in end use applications aligns well with the capability of Roboze to deliver high quality printers for use in industrial environments,” said Keith Cox, senior business leader, Additive Manufacturing, SABIC.

Roboze produces 3D printers dedicated to high temperature and high performance polymers, and is a leader in the production of functional prototypes and finished parts in PEEK, CarbonPA, CarbonPEEK and ULTEM™ AM9085F filament using additive manufacturing methods with FFF technology.

From mid-2018, Roboze will add LEXAN™ EXL AMHI240F filament  to its offering, particularly on the Roboze One + 400, increasing the versatility of its materials dedicated to metal replacement like PEEK and Carbon PEEK.

The relationship with SABIC is a reflection of Roboze’s commitment to selecting and engineering the most advanced materials in terms of mechanical, thermal and chemical properties.

Roboze 3D printers are delivering excellent results with SABIC’s  new materials.   Samples of finished parts printed with EXL AMHI240F filament will be showcased in Fort Worth, Texas, at the upcoming edition of the Rapid + TCT show at Roboze’s Stand 2539.

Alessio Lorusso, Founder and CEO of Roboze had this to say about the new cooperation and offering: the new SABIC polycarbonate filament is extraordinary! The results of the first tests have given us enormous satisfaction, and will allow us to further expand the range of high performance materials of our machines. We are looking forward to working together with such an innovative company as SABIC. This relationship will not only inspire our technicians, but the entire Roboze organization as well. When experience and know-how come together everybody wins.
