Saltworks Fab relies on 3D printing technology from Desktop Metal

The American company Saltworks Fab, which specializes in the restoration of classic cars, is investing in new production technologies: Saltworks recently installed two “Figur G15” Digital Sheet Metal Printing machines from 3D printer manufacturer Desktop Metal at its headquarters in Florida.

According to Saltworks CEO David Jacobsen, the 3D metal printers enable faster and more flexible production of spare parts and body parts that are no longer available for older vehicle models. The company has already demonstrated a complete side panel for a Mercedes at a trade fair. This could be produced in less than 10 hours using the 3D printer.

Jacobsen also sees the new digital sheet forming printers as an opportunity to make sheet metal production accessible to a wider range of customers. Small workshops, design agencies or self-builders could thus benefit from additive technology.
