US Navy Supplier orders 3D Printer from AML3D

AML3D announced that Laser Welding Solutions (LWS), a supplier of nickel-aluminum-bronze components to the U.S. Navy’s submarine industry, has ordered an industrial metal 3D printer from AML3D, the Arcemy 2600.

LWS will be a supplier of nickel aluminum bronze (NAB) components for the U.S. Navy’s submarine industrial base. AML3D’s 2600 Edition ARCEMY system is an industrial metal 3D printer and is capable of producing NAB components for U.S. Navy applications. LWS will lease the ARCEMY system for a period of 12 months, with the option to purchase the system at any time during the lease period. The lease is valued at approximately 0.27 million Australian dollars (approximately 0.22 million U.S. dollars) and includes a 12-month software license and technical support agreement.

To accelerate the adoption of AML3D’s metal 3D printing technology at LWS, AML3D’s 2600 Edition ARCEMY system will be shipped by air from Adelaide, South Australia, to Houston, Texas, and is expected to be operational within 8 to 10 weeks.

AML3D is currently working on a NAB alloy test for the US Navy standard, funded through the BlueForge Alliance. The NAB components produced with the LWS ARCEMY system will also help support and accelerate this qualification program. The BlueForge Alliance is a nonprofit, neutral integration organization that supports strengthening and sustaining the U.S. Navy’s submarine industrial base through technology adoption and acceleration.

AML3D CEO Sean Ebert said: “This lease contract with LWS is further evidence of increasing demand for AML3D’s technology within the US Navy submarine industrial base supply chain. It is exciting to see the momentum within AML3D’s US Scale up strategy continuing to build and to see the commercial benefits flowing from our deepening relationship with BlueForge Alliance and we will remain alert to opportunities to maximize this advantage, such as lease agreements and the rapid deployment of our ARCEMY systems.

AML3D is committed to providing the US Defence sector with point of need advanced manufacturing solutions and to developing and deepening our long-term, strategic partnership with key stakeholders within the US Navy’s submarine program and supply chain. Our US scale up strategy also includes meeting the advanced manufacturing and metal 3D printing needs of global Tier 1 Oil and Gas and Aerospace companies. Our newly established relationship with LWS is built around supporting the US Navy’s submarine industrial base but LWS is also a key supplier to Tier 1 US Oil and Gas majors, which may present opportunities in this sector in the future.”
