German company AIM3D GmbH and Danish company Create it REAL announce a partnership to integrate and implement the patented Voxelfill printing strategy in a dedicated software solution. AIM3D has developed Voxelfill, a new approach to overcome inhomogeneous strengths and properties through defined selective densities in the part.
The partnership around Voxelfill and capability development is realized through a dedicated slicing software solution, SlicEx, and an integrated Voxelfill plug-in for AIM3D’s ExAM printer. The goal is to enable additive manufacturing to overcome drawbacks related to tensile and flexural strength, as well as very brittle behavior along the Z-axis.
The voxelfill process is particularly suitable for 3D printing plastics and fiber-reinforced plastics. However, it is also suitable for 3D printing metallic and ceramic components using CEM processes. In general, there are great advantages for the AM industry due to the higher build speed and the cross-layer filling.
