Chinese 3D printing manufacturer EPlus-3D has unveiled a new metal laser powderbedfusion printer called EP-M1550. With a build volume of 1550 x 1550 x 1000 mm, it is one of the largest of its kind.
According to EPlus-3D, the EP-M1550’s innovative four-matrix configuration with sixteen lasers and sixteen galvanometers gives it a print speed of up to 540 cm3/h. According to the manufacturer, this makes the printer ideal for the production of aerospace components.
The system’s accuracy is ensured by several factors. These include high laser beam quality, precise substrate positioning and in-house developed software for optimizing laser scan paths. The latter ensures high uniformity of the manufactured parts.
With the EP-M1550, EPlus-3D aims to further advance industrial series production with metal 3D printing. According to the company, it has already been delivered to the first customers. The market launch is planned for September.
The performance of the new 3D printing system underscores the trend toward ever-larger build volumes and higher throughputs in additive manufacturing. There is particularly strong demand for these features in the aerospace industry. The printer can be seen at the TCT Asia 2023 trade show in Shanghai.
