Hello Kitty 3D Printing Store Opened in Shanghai

The fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio has been brought into the world of 3D printing with the opening of its own 3D printing concept store at Shanghai Mart in China.

Upon the launch of the new store, a one meter tall 3D printed Hello Kitty figurine was unveiled, that is said to be the store’s manager. Customers of the Hello Kitty 3D printing store can wander around the showroom and place their orders for custom accessories of their favourite character, that has been around since 1974. While choosing between different materials, colours and finishes Hello Kitty fans can also personalise their 3D printed order with individual messages or names on it.

Back in July last year, Sanrio has already introduced workshops at a Hello Kitty 3D printing concept store in Hong Kong in collaboration with 3D designer Marco King Chan, showing customers the printing process first hand after customising their own merchandise. Making Hello Kitty products available through this approach will certainly help the brand gain new fans but also bring excitement to existing ones.

If the concept store proves to be successful, Sanrio plans to open an official flagship store in Shanghai.
