Market for 3D Printing Materials to Reach $ 1.4 Billion by 2021

According to a report released by market research company Markets and Markets, the 3D printing materials market is projected to grow from $ 530.1 million in 2016 to $ 1,409.5 million by 2021, representing a CAGR of 21.6%.

The report identifies medical and dental 3D printing as on of the drivers for the market, with the technology being used to produce surgical equipment, prosthetics, implants and tissue engineered products. Moreover, it will be used for orthopaedic, dental and cranio-maxillofacial applications, along with 3D bioprinting.

Metals are forecasted to dominate the market for 3D printing materials, due to being used for a wide range of applications in the aerospace and defence, medical and dental as well as automotive industries, where strong materials are needed for end-use parts.

While the U.S. accounts for the major market share in North America due to the growing demand from the aerospace and defence industry, Germany dominates the European region. The Asia Pacific region is projected to experience a high growth related to the adoption of 3D printing technology in countries such as China, Japan and South Korea.
