nScrypt receives patent for multi-material mixing valve for 3D printing

The US company nScrypt has announced the granting of a patent for a new type of mixing valve for 3D printing. According to nScrypt, the valve enables the precise dosing, mixing and dispensing of a wide variety of materials via a nozzle.

Both low-viscosity and high-viscosity materials as well as particle-laden materials can be processed in real time. The valve ensures clean starts and stops during the printing process and can be used for 2D and 3D printing.

According to nScrypt CEO Ken Church, the invention revolutionizes the 3D printing industry by allowing seamless switching between different materials and applications. This is particularly beneficial for medical and biological innovations.

The valve enables precise multi-material prints without interrupting the workflow when materials need to be changed. nScrypt sees this as a major step forward for feature-rich and high-resolution 3D printing applications.

The patent is available for licensing to interested companies. According to Church, nScrypt wants to use it to drive innovation in 3D manufacturing.
