UltiMaker expands the availability of materials on the Method XL 3D printer

3D printer manufacturer UltiMaker announced significant updates to Method XL 3D printers with the latest firmware version 2.3. With a focus on ease of use, Method XL now supports new materials – ASA, Nylon 12 Carbon Fiber and SR-30 Support Material – as well as several improvements that streamline workflow and increase productivity.

Nylon 12 Carbon Fiber features high tensile strength, impact resistance and heat resistance, making it an ideal material for functional prototypes and end-use parts. ASA, a general-purpose, weather-resistant material, offers improved UV and chemical resistance compared to ABS and is often used for parts in outdoor applications.

In addition to the material innovations, UltiMaker has also improved the user experience of the Method XL with revisions to the notification system and user interface, resulting in faster response times and smoother navigation. This makes the entire printing process easier from start to finish.

Another important part of the update is the beta version of Cura 5.7, which introduces Universal Cura Projects. This allows models and print settings to be shared across devices, increasing compatibility and flexibility in the 3D printing process. Full support for cloud printing through the UltiMaker Digital Factory opens up additional possibilities for file management and monitoring of print jobs.

“With this release, we have doubled the material offering, enhanced the system performance and improved the user experience of the Method XL. We are committed to continually improving the Method XL product and making it the premier choice for Engineering Applications,” said Michael Mignatti, VP, Central Development, at UltiMaker.
