3D model published: Table tennis ball from the 3D printer

A few weeks ago, US sporting goods manufacturer Wilson made headlines with the 3D-printed basketball “Airless Gen1”. The basketball was developed in collaboration with 3D design company General Lattice and costs 2,500 US dollars each.

The maker “E.T.” adopted Wilson’s concept and designed a 3D model for a table tennis ball. He has made the 3D print template available for free on MakerWorld and Printables. It is a simple ping pong ball that can be easily printed.

Some Printables users explain that they printed the ball with the material PETG and that it bounced like a real ping pong ball. Other users report that it soon became brittle.
