Babmbu Lab announces changes to its MakerWorld 3D printing platform

The 3D printing community platform MakerWorld has been in public beta for 20 days. In an article, the operator and 3D printer manufacturer Bambu Lab took stock and announced some changes.

According to the published figures, MakerWorld has already gained many users and recorded model uploads. However, there was also criticism because of bugs, the reporting system and the sharing of content. Especially the automatic sharing of models under Creative Commons license is said to have caused a lot of displeasure.

For this reason, MakerWorld wants to temporarily deactivate this function. First, the community is to be consulted broadly in order to reach a consensus. After that, a reintroduction under better moderation is planned.

The collection of goodies and points by uploading print profiles without a test print is also to be restricted. In the future, MakerWorld will require a photo of the print result. In addition, creators can have untested profiles removed.

Overall, the MakerWorld operator is open to feedback and wants to improve the platform step by step. The beta phase of a new platform often brings unforeseen challenges. On the positive side, the user base has already been reached. If MakerWorld continues to meet the needs of the community, the platform could establish itself as an important hub.
