Dr. Astrid Rota is the new Managing Director of the Additive Manufacturing Division of Kurtz GmbH & Co. KG

Dr. Astrid Rota has been announced as the new managing director of the additive manufacturing division of Kurtz GmbH & Co. KG has been announced. Her focus is particularly on the advancement in metallic 3D printing and the further development of the production units, with a special focus on the Kurtz Ersa Flying Ray.

Dr. Astrid Rota brings with her an impressive academic and professional background. Her career, characterized by a mix of strategic research and practical application in metal process technology and specifically 3D printing, marks her as ideal for the leadership position at Kurtz Ersa.

Her previous work at EOS, where she led the metallic materials and processes division, was characterized by the advancement of laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) technology and the identification of product and process improvement opportunities. She played a critical role in developing and adapting hardware and software requirements for new equipment in Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), a key technology in metallic 3D printing.

Dr. Rota takes the lead of a 25-person 3D printing team at Kurtz Ersa with the stated goal of accelerating the development and market readiness process of the “Flying Ray” and other products. Her expertise in powder bed-based additive manufacturing technology is likely to be a significant asset in this regard.
