Evonik presents new INFINAM TPA 4006 P Powder Material at Formnext 2023

Evonik, a leading specialty chemicals company, has expanded its portfolio of elastomeric materials for powder bed fusion 3D printing technologies. The latest product in this area is INFINAM TPA 4006 P, a powder material developed specifically for open SLS 3D printers. The material will be presented for the first time during the Formnext trade show in Frankfurt, Germany, November 7-10, 2023, in Hall 12.1, Booth C39.

Characteristics of INFINAM TPA 4006 P INFINAM TPA 4006 P is a PA12 elastomer consisting of polyamide 12 segments and soft segments. It is characterized by its rubber-like properties and excellent impact strength, which allows excellent rebound behavior. With high process stability and excellent powder flow properties, it is suitable for all common SLS technologies. In addition, the fine powder enables a 50/50 reuse rate when comparing new to used material.

“Elastomer-based 3D printing applications play a crucial role of the additive value proposition. Mostly like limited editions of infinite designs or high customization they perfectly showcase what 3D printing stands for”, says Arnim Kraatz, Director Powder Bed Fusion at Evonik. “By offering new optimized 3D printing materials, we enable our customers to take advantage of the unique set material properties in order to explore and scale up new applications.”

3D-printed parts made from INFINAM TPA 4006 P impress with excellent surface resolution and detail fidelity, while offering outstanding durability over a wide temperature range from -40°C to 90°C. The powder is particularly suitable for the production of functional 3D high-tech plastic parts, both for prototypes and series products. In addition, TPA has been used for decades in a wide variety of consumer products, such as footwear.

Evonik offers two types of powders for powder bed fusion 3D printing technologies: thermoplastic amide INFINAM TPA and thermoplastic copolyester INFINAM TPC. The range is complemented by INFINAM FL, a rubbery photopolymer resin for photopolymerizing 3D printing.

With the launch of INFINAM TPA 4006 P, Evonik is consolidating its position in the field of 3D printing technologies and enabling users to reap the benefits of 3D printing in new dimensions.
