Incus to showcase new Hammer Pro40 metal 3D printer at Formnext 2023

Austrian 3D printer manufacturer Incus will unveil its new Hammer Pro40 3D printer at Formnext 2023. This is designed to open up Incus’ metal 3D printing processes to volume production for the first time.

Incus said the Hammer Pro40 builds on its existing Hammer Lab35 system. With a platform six times larger and significantly increased printing speed, it is expected to make the leap to mass production. According to Incus, it can cost-effectively produce large quantities of complex metal parts.

The Hammer Pro40 has two movable projectors that expose the layers of the component one after the other. Compared to the previous model, this has increased printing speed by a factor of 7. At the same time, the cost projection per cubic centimeter is lower by a factor of 4.

Thanks to a high resolution of 40 micrometers, filigree structures and smooth surfaces can still be achieved, according to Incus. The company sees areas of application, for example, in medical technology, automotive engineering or jewelry manufacturing.

Incus’ metal 3D printing technology, Lithography-based Metal Manufacturing (LMM), allows complex metal parts to be built up layer by layer using photochemical processes. Compared to powder bed-based processes, Incus thus promises time and cost advantages with high precision.
