Modix announces large format 3D printer Core-Meter for $6,900

Israeli 3D printer manufacturer Modix will present its latest model at the Formnext trade fair in Frankfurt: The Core Meter. The printer is scheduled to be available from the first quarter of 2024 for an entry-level price of $6,900.

With a print volume of 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 mm, the Core-Meter positions itself in the large-format 3D printer segment. According to Modix, the model is particularly targeted at small businesses and startups looking to get started in large-format additive manufacturing.

The Core-Meter features Core-XY kinematics for high print speeds and a Duet controller. A Phaetus Rapido with APUS drive is used as the extruder. However, compared to Modix’s more expensive BIG Meter model, the Core Meter is limited to a single print head.

For Modix, the Core series represents an expansion of its product portfolio. In total, the company plans to offer seven different models in the future to accommodate a broader customer base. In addition to the printers, supplements such as housings or filament dryers are also to be available.

With the comparatively low entry price, Modix is targeting customers for whom current large-format printers are not financially accessible. If the Core Meter proves convincing in practice, it could open up large-format 3D printing technology to a larger circle of users.
