Is 3D Printing Bad For The Environment?

At the 32. Chaos Computer Club Congress (32C3) Christian Lölkes, an expert from Karlsruhe, speaks about recycling and 3D printing.

Christian Lölkes or obelix held a very interesting speech about 3D printing and recycling. 3D printing produces a lot of waste and who can’t relate to the fact that you just 3D printed something because you have a 3D printer. You really don´t know what to do with your 3D printed object – you just have printed it because you can.

Another reason FFF/FDM 3D printing produces waste is the fail rate and the phase where you test out some settings of your 3D printer or the new filament you recently bought.
