YouTuber builds 3D-printed board with chain drive

YouTuber Simon Sörensen from the RCLifeON channel has presented an interesting project in his latest video. With the help of 3D printing, he built a board that can move on snow, sand and grass with a track drive.

At the heart of Sörensen’s project are massively dimensioned, 3D-printed track elements and gears, inspired by an RC tank model. Scaled to 160 percent of their original size, they give the vehicle a useful size. A chain connects the gears to a 360 kV electric motor, whose torque is increased by an integrated reduction gear.

Despite the immense power, achieving sufficient traction on snow proved to be the biggest challenge. He therefore tried different variants, which Sörensen presents in the video.
