Artec 3D has released the latest version of its handheld 3D scanner software, Artec Studio 10. The new and optimized software features included with the user-friendly interface are all designed to improve the ease, speed and accuracy of the scanning process and obtain faster results.
New and improved features for Artec Studio 10 include:
- Powerful algorithms to maintain total control of tracking
- Automatic scan alignment correction during scanning
- Texture color mapping is five times faster than previous versions
- Boosted auto-alignment and non-rigid global alignment capabilities
- Mesh simplification is now up to 90 per cent faster than before
- More texture editing tools
- Compatibility with Kinect V2 and Intel F200
These features assist with the capturing and editing of 3D data to ensure speed and accuracy throughout both the scanning and processing stages. While scanning, users are able to keep total control of tracking even when the scanner is shaken or turned. Should the user make larger movements that may disrupt the scan, the continuous scanning algorithms are able to automatically adjust and pick up where the scan left off. In addition, Tracking Alignment Correction will identify tricky scanning areas and automatically realign scans during the scanning procedure itself, substantially reducing the time needed for post-processing the data.
With Artec Studio 10, processing captured data is now even quicker. This newest suite features powerful post-processing alignment algorithms that make creating accurate 3D models much simpler and faster. Texture editing has become easier, with complicated missing texture data being automatically predicted, reproduced and filled in with speed and accuracy. The software also enables the user to automatically remove targets when photogrammetry solutions are used.
Artec Studio 10 is available in two editions: Professional and Ultimate, which are both compatible with all of Artec 3D scanners. The Professional version, is compatible with Artec’s scanners, is available as the usual one-time purchase or, for the first time, as a yearly subscription, ensuring that users always have access to the latest upgrades. Artec Studio 10 Ultimate is available by subscription only and the software is compatible with all Artec scanners as well as a variety of sensors including Kinect for Windows V2, Intel F200 (IVCAM) and ASUS Xtion.
Artec will be offering special upgrade terms for existing customers now until August 1, 2015. All schools, colleges and universities using an older version of the software will be upgraded to Artec Studio 10 at no cost. Individuals or businesses can upgrade to Artec Studio 10 at a reduced cost or subscription price. New users can receive a 30-day trial version of Artec Studio 10 Ultimate by registering online and downloading the free trial at my.artec3d.com.
