Curta: Mechanical calculator from the 3D printer

The Curta is a mechanical calculator that was developed by Curt Herzstark in the 1940s and was in use from 1947 to 1970. The machine in the shape of a cylinder with a crank at the top was sold by the Liechtenstein company Contina AG from 1947 to 1970. The company produced a total of 140,000 units. Maker Marcus Wu has published a 3D printable model for this calculating machine.

Wu has made all the files needed for the calculator available to download free of charge on the Thingiverse platform. He has also published a list of all the other parts required (Bill of Materials, BoM). In addition, Wu has published comprehensive instructions as a PDF file and a video showing the assembly process.
