EOS M400-4 – Metal 3D Printing Powered By Four Lasers

German 3D Printing Pioneer EOS presents a new system for metal 3D printing which uses four lasers.

The new EOS M 400-4 is a efficient DMLS system for metal 3D printing with a huge build volume of 400x400x400mm. This large area is parted in four areas for every 400-Watt laser. Each laser works on a area of 250x250mm which means there is a overlap to get even more reliability and productivity.

Dr. Adrian Keppler, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at EOS ads:

“Following our strategy to establish the Additive Manufacturing technology for production in all industries we have developed this pioneering DMLS system. The EOS M 400-4 is a perfect addition to our industrial systems portfolio. It shatters the boundaries of manufacturing as it meets the most demanding requirements of our industry partners in terms of efficiency, scalability, usability and process monitoring.” And he continues: “As the system offers a modular platform designed for industrial 3D Printing, it can easily be integrated into existing production environments and the customer set of future innovations.”

The EOS M400-4 is a new version of the EOS M400 which uses one 1000-Watt laser. The EOS M400-4 uses the patented EOS ClearFlow process gas management technology to ensure a optimal and consistent condition inside the printing chamber. Initially EOS NickelAlloy HX and EOS MaragingSteel MS1 will be available as materials for the EOS M400-4 but more will follow soon.

You can see the EOS M400-4 for the first time at the IMTS show in Chicago on September 12th till 17th.
